both Flahorn and default icon versions. I must say that it is one of the =
coolest themes ever I've seen from PiZero.

Guys, did any of you read Skyfire's privacy agreement ? http://www.skyfire.com/about/privacy-and-security



They suggest that <b>they collect all your usernames, passwords, credit card numbers and other sensitive information</b> and I'm afraid whether they wish to earn a good money from selling your info. But the worst part is that, this sort of disclaimer can make most users afraid of using SkyFire as SkyFire requests for their email address and phone number from the beginning as this sort of info can easily help build your virtual character in SkyFire's databases ( if they keep any).

Now, the question is, whether they really plan to do so ? If any Skyfire official can comment on this, I'd be more than glad to publish it here. And depending on how they act, Skyfire shall one day become my favourite browser as well - as it has the full potential to become the king of mobile browsing. And I'd be glad to review it despite all these security concerns (and I may be able to reveal the truth too - if there's nothing to worry about). Comments are welcome !

While helping people at Nokia Discussion Forums today, I saw a discussion on hiding files on a Nokia N73 and realised that it was still confusing for many users. So prior to going offline for a week for my exams, I thought of helping out you guys with this little guide. The good part is that, this guide is not only for the N73, but also for any Symbian OS device (ranging from Nokia 6600 to Samsung i450 to Nokia N95 8GB and on).
1. Download Y-Browser or any other file browser of your choice (X-Plore, ActiveFile etc.) and install [Please select the ActiveFile_3rd_v1.25_signed_without_allfiles_screencapture.sisx version of ActiveFile unless you have hacked your phone's system] it. For those guys do not have PCs, if the default Web browser of your phone seem too hard to handle for you, use Opera Mini 4.1.
2. Select and run your downloaded file browser from Applications folder (or from DrJukka.com folder in Y-Browser's case).
3. Scroll to the file that you want to hide. Select Attributes.
(Options > File > Attributes, in Y-Browser,
Press 6 in X-Plore )
4. Set the hiding status to Hidden.
5. Done ! Your file is invisible now.

There are many other ways to hide your files too, but this is the easiest way to do it.


To unhide a hidden file..

You first need to set your file browser to show all files ( Options > Settings > General > Show All Files > Yes in Y-Browser,
Press 0 and check Show Hidden Files on X-Plore).
Then scroll to your hidden file and change the file attributes to Unhidden.

Note that the files will not be shown on phone's default File Browser also while hidden.
Most of the links are to 3rd Edition software, but you may find 2nd Edition file explorers for free by Googling too.

This is the active standby feature in the upcoming S60 5th Edition. The UI can be subjected to changes in the final product, but at least this is the way it was planned. Thanks to ICEman_c81 once again, for providing these great screenshots.

The above is a screenshot of the VGA resolution version of S60 5th Edition UI. As you see, it is touch enabled and you won't need the application key (top left) on the keypad anymore. The screenshot was taken on Carbide UI 3.2.

Creating big news for the Symbian ecosystem, Nokia Corp. has decided to acquire all the shares of Symbian Limited. Symbian Ltd. is the manufacturer of Symbian OS, which is the core platform for UIQ and S60 UIs. Nokia already owns a controlling stake in Symbian, but with this decision they will be acquiring the remainig 52% shares from other shareholders for an estimated EUR264 million. They have also decided to set up Symbian Foundation in cooperation with some key players of the mobile industry including AT&T, EA Mobile, LG Electronics, Motorola, NTT DoCoMo, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, T-Mobile, Texas Instruments and Vodafone. All of the mobile manufacturers in Symbian Foundation are already using the Symbian platform. Beeper is a new multifunctional utility freeware for S60 3rd Edition phones. The application can be set to display time, free RAN, date, battery level etc. on the top left corner of the screen and you can customize fonts and colours. It does a good job, but it would have been better and much useful if it was in the top right corner of the screen as left is the corner mainly used for most indications. As you can see, when set on, the display bar of Beeper blocks the packet data connection icon in applications that use internet. But, yet it's a highly useful utility. Look for the screenshots.



Update : The position of the display bar, it's size and font size is fully customizable. You can edit them all from the Bar Face setting. I apologize for any inconvenience caused. I'll make sure that this sort of mistakes don't take place again.

This is a bit old news, but I believe that you'll be interested. So here is the link to guide by Ewan at AllAboutSymbian on getting Quake working on your Symbian device.

Yesterday, Symbian FREAKS (Ed- Notice the caps lock), had posted a big, victorious article saying that they were able to pass all the security locks in the Symbian OS 9 S60 v3.1 (in a tone that they conquered the world) and hack the system. The article had demonstrated that hacking is a really good thing and meant that it is the best way to improve applications, OS etc. It also strongly recommended that the phone they buy is owned to them, they want to have personal fun with it, and hence Nokia should allow and encourage hacking. So, let me ask from you all, who takes responsibility for the end results of their "personal fun hacking"...? Whoever takes the responsibility, you can be assured that it could sometimes be a simple mass destruction and a horrible dream for each and every Symbian user (don't worry. I don't they can't completely bypass your Symbian phone's security. It can be done only if you willingly do so. It is still far far away from you). It is undoubtebly true that some disastrous hacker will use these tricks for their attempts. So dear FREAKS over there at respected Symbian Freak, I agree that you own your phone and can have fun and also that this is some sort of improvement, but don't bring danger into other people's lives. It really is good to have an open platform than a closed one, but I'm sure that you realise the hidden danger in opening it. Specially the after effects. I might not be a reputed blogger like you all, but I still believe that it is no wrong to point out a fault. After all, what is the use of hacking a OS which is already outdated? I'm sure FP2 has lots of improvements on security, and I don't think hacking it would be an easy task. So dear bloggers, don't use blogging to post junk.
