The first seven applications that I install on my S60

A reply to Mark Guim...
These are the first seven applications that I install

1. Opera Mini - The free, super little web browser. Low in size, low on bandwidth, high in quality. Point your JAVA enabled phone's browser to http://mini.opera.com for instant free download.
2. Screenshot - The famous screen capturing solution. Made by Antony Pranata. A must have for every mobile phone blogger. Available at www.antonypranata.com . For S60 phones only. Freeware.
3. Handy Taskman.
A great shareware task manager utility which directly integrates onto the task manager key (long press on Menu key) giving you a more sophisticated view of current tasks including the RAM, Date and memory status info. Also has the ability to add your favorite applications for quick access. 14 days trial. Visit http://epocware.mobi on your phone.
4. Advanced Device Locks.
This shareware gives you the ability to password protect every application like Messaging, Camera or Opera Mini in your phone. However, the trial period is limited to 7 days.
5. Y-Browser.
The great and free file management utility for S60 phones made by Dr.Jukka Svenson (a.k.a Symbian_yucca). Which gives you the full control over your files. Visit http://drjukka.com to download.
6. Y-Tasks.
Another great product from Dr.Jukka. This free utility is made with developers in mind, but can be of immense use to any S60 user. It is a sort of task manager and has a more advanced control over your phone's system tasks. Download from drjukka.com.
7. Beeper.
One of the very latest S60 freewares which won a place in this ranking. It gives you the ability to have a customised info bar (RAM, Time or battery level etc.) (Read my review on this blog)on any place of your S60 phone's screen. I'll update the download location soon.
REQUEST: My idea for an application. Handy Taskman can integrate with task manager key. Why can't someone create an advanced notepad utility that can integrate with the pencil/hash key? I'm sure it would be a great product.

A new Opera Mini version coming soon

A new release of Opera Mini, probably the world's most popular mobile web browser, is coming your way, and I presume that this is the new Opera Mini 4.1. Current stable release of Opera Mini is v4.0 and the latest version is the beta is v4.1.

Opera Mini server gets another upgrade

Those guys at Opera are doing a really great job! The Opera Mini server(s) just went through a new upgrade and this includes BiDi support for feeds and some bug fixes. Majorly on image loading and uploading/downloading for the new Opera Mini 4.1 beta. But, for me, the most important thing is that, now Opera Mini displays this blog page without any errors, which was not loaded at the Blogspot address previously. Uploads work back again and now I can look forward to completing the N95 review. Because this blog is almost completely written on Opera Mini. Which is, from a mobile for mobiles. Head over here to read more.

Opera Mini 4.1 released

Opera Mini 4.1 just got released! With support for all the functions described in my previous post. Feels nice, sadly I'm low on battery power and power supply isn't available. Size with multiple certificates, for my Nokia 6233, 151kb. Three more different versions are available too. Go to mini.opera.com/beta on your phone right away! Posted from Opera Mini 4.1.10781.

Opera Mini 4.1?

According to our friends over at Crackberry.com, it is the Opera Mini 4.1 that is going to be launched. It will be 50% faster and will have file upload, download capabilities! Finally, the developers at Opera have listened to what us, Opera users, have been asking for so long at their forum - a version bigger than 120kb for power users! I feel that Opera Mini 4.1 is a news that I can trust. One of our moderators at Opera forum rejected a mock up pic of an Opera Mini 5 yesterday!

New Opera Mini coming!

Not an April fool's joke, but a new Opera Mini beta is to be released soon. I believe that it'll be v5 with a file manager. It's new logo looks promising!

Opera Mini icon modified

This might be illegal, but undoubtebly worth giving a check out. Bery95 over at Symbian Web Blog has modified the current Opera Mini with six beautiful icons which will give an amazing look to this little application. He describes that it is probably the most downloaded application on phones and deserves a shining beauty like this. He doesn't expect to do any hacking or such disturb to Opera Software ASA. In my own words, he's done a GREAT JOB. To download the modified versions, click here.

Mobilized Google for Opera Mini?

It seems that Google has now started to redirect you to mobile version of some of their pages when surfing through Opera Mini. Eg: Main Google search engine, iGoogle etc. Clicking on the Classic link at iGoogle only redirects you to the main page. So far this is less bothering, but if Google continues this into GMail etc. too (like Yahoo! did), of course this will distract many Opera Mini users. Of course, Google might be in favor to redirect Opera Mini users to their mobilized version too, because this will make their Java applications for mobiles more popular. Despite you use Mobile View or Desktop View, you are always sent to mobilized pages sometimes.

New Opera Mini with Google search alive

The new Opera Mini v4 build 4.0.10406 is live now. This version features Google as the main search engine on the start page. But unfortunately, this version directs you to the Google Mobile site, but you can anytime create a search engine to the Google WEBsite using Opera Mini's Create Search option. The older builds featured Yahoo! . However it is a known fact that most Opera Mini users liked Google to be the main search engine. Point your phone's browser http://mini.opera.com to download.

Opera Mini Power-user menu unveiled

Ever wanted to configure Opera Mini more to yourself? Want to get rid of those telephone numbers and some feeds? Now you can. Visit opera:config on your Opera Mini to access Power-user Settings Menu and do more with your favourite mobile web browser! If this link does not work, please manually enter opera:config in Enter Address menu and visit it. If you have not yet heard of the world's favourite mobile web application, point your phone's browser to mini.opera.com to download it!
